Student officers from the Kenya Military Academy have completed a comprehensive multi-service orientation tour aimed at building joint operational competency early in their military careers.
The immersive training exercise exposed cadets directly to the specialized units, operational mandates, and tactical environments of the country’s ground, air, and naval forces. The field visits spanned several key military installations, including an air base where trainees observed aviation logistics, air support, and flight defense operations. Cadets also toured the Embakasi Garrison and the Combat Engineers Brigade to study ground force organizational structures, combat engineering capabilities, and tactical infrastructure support.
The tour concluded with maritime defense training at the Mtongwe Navy Base, where participants examined naval security protocols and coastal defense strategy.
By embedding future commanders across land, air, and sea domain environments, the Kenya Military Academy aims to instill a broader joint-service perspective. Defense officials emphasized that experiencing the distinct yet interconnected capabilities of each service branch is crucial for preparing versatile officers to lead integrated defense operations in complex security scenarios.
