Gambians have been left scratching their heads for answers after three apparent suicide by hanging cases followed within days of each other since April 4th.
Police in the town of Brikama on Monday said they were investigating reports of a woman found dead by hanging between Jambanjelly and Kassakunda, in the West Coast Region.
The deceased was identified as Adama Awa Baldeh, 27, a housewife from Kassakunda village.
A day earlier the Gambian police said they were probing the circumstances of an alleged suicide in Dobong Kunda, Central River Region (CRR South), where a man identified as Muhammed Sanno was found hanging from a tree in the bush last Saturday evening.
The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
Meanwhile on April 4th a death by apparent suicide was reported at the Karantaba Police Station after the lifeless body of a man was found hanging in a bush near Sami Pachonki Village, Central River Region North.
The remains were identified as belonging to Lalo Ceesay, 50, of Sami Pachonki as the police launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. They are not ruling out foul play.
