Around thirty AK-47 rifles, along with several homemade weapons seized during a joint operation with the Central African Republic (CAR), were presented on Tuesday to administrative authorities and the Chadian press.
The ceremony took place at the General Delegation of the Government in the Moyen-Chari province.
The weapons were confiscated as part of “Operation Al Hamamia,” conducted from March 24 to April 12 by the Chad–CAR joint force in border areas between the two countries.
The operation aimed to strengthen security and curb the illicit circulation of weapons across the shared frontier.
The government’s delegate for Moyen-Chari, Abderamane Ahmat Bargou, praised the commitment of the forces involved and called on local populations to cooperate more closely with authorities to effectively combat insecurity and promote civilian disarmament.
The commander of the joint force, General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, stressed that the success of the operation reflects a strong political will at the highest level of the state to restore peace and stability in border regions.
The Chad–CAR joint force was officially established on September 27, 2025, in Sarh, Chad, with the mandate to secure the common border and combat insecurity.
Created under a bilateral security agreement, the unit is tasked with dismantling armed groups and highway bandits, while also facilitating the return of Central African refugees.
Security posts have notably been set up in Sido, on the Chadian side. The force also benefits from the support of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).
