The “Red Wave-8” naval exercise, which began on November 11 and involved Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, and Djibouti, has concluded.
The joint Egyptian-Saudi naval exercise “Al-Mawj Al-Ahmar 8” (Red Wave), conducted for several days in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ended on Monday, November 17, the military spokesperson announced in a statement.
The exercise involved elements of the Egyptian, Saudi, Jordanian, Sudanese, Yemeni, and Djiboutian navies.
Participating naval special forces personnel trained in live-fire exercises, counter-attacks with fast attack craft, searches for enemy submarines, artillery fire on surface targets, and navigation drills.
In the final phase, the participating troops conducted a live-fire incursion maneuver onto a coastal island, supported by air forces.
A reconnaissance and coastline security exercise was carried out to prepare the way for the troops’ advance.
The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Navy and several of his counterparts from the participating countries took part in the final phase of the maneuvers.
