Kenya and France are poised to ratify what both parties called a landmark military cooperation agreement between the two countries, APA can report from Nairobi on Monday.
It will be the first such agreement between Nairobi and Paris as Kenya look beyond her traditional allies Britain and the United States for defense covers.
Kenya’s military cooperation with France will consist of a training programme for the Kenyan army and strengthening maritime security.
It also covers the holding of joint exercises between the Kenyan and French militaries.
Kenya’s relations with France have been on the up given the agreeable chemistry between President William Ruto and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
Kenya is set to host the France-Africa summit on May 12, 2026, the frst time the meeting is being held in a non French-speaking African country.
