The Kingdom of Morocco condemned on Sunday the armed attack that targeted a reception held in Washington on Saturday evening and
attended by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
While affirming its solidarity with the President of the United States and his family, as well as with the government and people of this
friendly country, targeted by an armed attack on Saturday evening, the Kingdom of Morocco reiterates its position rejecting all forms of
violence, extremism and terrorism, regardless of their sources or motivations, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African
Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad indicated.
Washington was shaken on Saturday evening, April 25, by an attempted violent intrusion at the Hilton Hotel, where the press gala was being
held and attended by President Donald Trump.
An individual armed with a shotgun attempted to breach a secure checkpoint, causing the immediate interruption of the ceremony and the emergency
evacuation of Donald Trump by the Secret Service. The 31-year-old man was arrested after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement. The attendees
of the social event were also evacuated.
The shooter appeared to be targeting senior officials in the Trump administration, the acting U.S. Attorney General said on Sunday, April
26. He will appear in court on Monday, April 27.
