Mozambican President Daniel Chapo on Tuesday began a three‑day working visit to Kenya during which he will attend the 4th Kenya International Investment Conference in Nairobi and promote investment opportunities in Mozambique.
The visit, undertaken at the invitation of President William Ruto, is Chapo’s first working trip to Kenya since taking office.
The presidency said the visit aims to strengthen long‑standing political and economic ties between the two countries, which cooperate in areas including trade, energy, security and regional integration.
Mozambique and Kenya are both members of the African Union and the Indian Ocean Rim Association and have in recent years expanded collaboration on counter‑terrorism and maritime security, particularly in the face of insurgent threats in northern Mozambique and piracy risks along East Africa’s coastline.
During the investment conference, which runs from 25 to 27 March in Nairobi, Chapo will serve as guest of honour and present Mozambique’s investment prospects to global investors, policymakers and private‑sector leaders.
The government says the president will highlight opportunities in sectors such as energy, agriculture, transport, tourism and digital transformation as part of efforts to attract new capital and deepen economic partnerships.
