The Nigerian carrier, ValueJet says that it plans to commence direct flight operations to Banjul, The Gambia, from Lagos, from May 15, 2025.
In a statement issued on Friday, the airline stated that the new Lagos-Banjul flight offers an essential air link between two of West Africa’s most dynamic regions and will provide greater access to The Gambia’s growing tourism industry and facilitate stronger economic ties with Nigeria.
According to the statement, ValueJet flights to Banjul will depart Lagos on Thursdays and Sundays, while the return flights will depart Banjul on Mondays and Fridays by 12:30 a.m. and arrive in Lagos at 5:00 a.m.
It added that the carrier would operate the Lagos-Banjul flights from the Murtala Muhammed International’s new terminal. Tickets are currently on sale on the website.
Speaking on the development, the Managing Director/Accountable Manager of ValueJet, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, expressed delight in its move to foster economic ties between the people and businesses of both countries.
“The launch of our Lagos to Banjul flight is an important milestone in ValueJet’s vision to promote travel options and connectivity within West Africa. We are proud to play a part in bridging distances and fostering closer economic ties between the people and businesses of Nigeria, The Gambia, and beyond, as well as opening new opportunities for trade and tourism,” he said.
According to Majekodunmi, the vision of the airline is its commitment to making travel within the continent more accessible and with more options.
