South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa is yet to return to work after falling ill while attending the 18th BRICS Summit in India last weekend.
According to a statement issued from his office, Ramaphosa was advised to rest by his medical team following his return from New Delhi where he joined fellow BRICS leaders for their annual summit held from 12-13 September.
“President Ramaphosa, who returned from the BRICS Summit in India on Monday, has been advised by his medical team to rest and recover.”
His return to public engagements remains unclear days after the Presidency confirmed he had been booked off following ill health.
According to the Presidency, Ramaphosa has asked relevant ministers to represent him at scheduled public engagements, where possible.
The Presidency did not provide further details about the nature of Ramaphosa’s illness or indicate how long he was expected to be off from public duties.
