A delegation from the West African Regional Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), led by Honourable Lazare Yao Yao, met with Senegalese Justice Minister Moussa Sarr in Dakar to advance the ratification and national implementation of African Union legal instruments.
The high-level consultations focused on aligning continental frameworks with domestic legislation, specifically targeting legal mechanisms that strengthen governance structures and enforce fundamental human rights protections.
The institutional visit formed part of a broader multi-day advocacy mission across Senegal designed to accelerate member-state accession to continental charters. In addition to talks with the Ministry of Justice, the PAP delegation held strategic discussions with the Ministry of Family, Social Action and Solidarity regarding African Union protocols on social inclusion and rights protection. Commemorating shared historical memory and regional solidarity, delegates also visited Gorée Island as part of their itinerary, reinforcing the Pan-African Parliament’s commitment to deepening dialogue with Senegalese authorities on regional integration priorities.
