Senegal and Rwanda signed eleven agreements across various sectors following the first session of their Joint Commission, held on October 6 and 7, 2026, in Kigali, according to the Senegalese Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
The Senegalese delegation was led by Cheikh Niang, the Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad. The session provided an opportunity to assess the state of bilateral
cooperation and identify new avenues for collaboration between Dakar and Kigali, culminating in the signing of eleven agreements in various fields.
According to the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conclusion of these eleven agreements reflects a “shared desire to consolidate” the partnership between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Cheikh Niang participated in the Rwanda-Senegal Business and Investment Forum, organized in partnership with the Senegalese Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Major Works (APIX) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
The gathering brought together public and private sector stakeholders from both countries to focus on developing partnerships, boosting trade, and promoting investment.
The forum notably facilitated networking between Senegalese and Rwandan business leaders and allowed for the exploration of new cooperation opportunities across several sectors.
This first session of the Senegal-Rwanda Joint Commission marks a new milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Dakar and Kigali.
