General Martin Faye, the High Commander of Senegal’s National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, completed a high-level official diplomatic visit to Türkiye from April 20 to 24, 2026.
This five-day mission to Ankara was specifically designed to strengthen the bilateral security ties and institutional cooperation between the West African nation and the Republic of Türkiye.
During his stay in the Turkish capital, General Faye was formally received by his Turkish counterpart at the General Command of the Gendarmerie. Their discussions focused heavily on creating a more robust framework for institutional partnerships, with a particular emphasis on the exchange of technical and operational expertise. As the head of Senegal’s military justice system, General Faye’s involvement underscores a desire to enhance not just field operations, but also the legal and administrative standards governing security forces.
The visit is a pivotal element of an ongoing strategic effort to consolidate the partnership between Dakar and Ankara. Both nations expressed a shared commitment to boosting their respective operational capabilities through a “holistic approach” to security. By prioritizing deep experience-sharing and sustainable cooperation, the two countries aim to promote a more professionalized security exchange that directly supports public safety and regional stability.
