Ten candidates, including incumbent President Faustin Archange Touadera, have been provisionally approved for the Central African Republic’s presidential election scheduled for December 28, 2025, according to a decision released by the National Elections Authority (ANE).
Three applications were rejected for administrative non-compliance, APA observed.
Incumbent President Faustin Archange Touadera, 68 of the United Hearts Movement (MCU) is seeking a third consecutive term as head of state.
First elected in 2016 and then re-elected in 2020, Mr. Touadéra, former Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013, is relying on his record, particularly in the peace process, political stabilisation, and institutional reconstruction.
The other candidates, aged between 39 and 69, include Edd Simphorien Kpamekoul (66 years old), of the National Party for Unity and Renewal (PNUR); Anicet-Georges Dologuele (68 years old), candidate of the Union for Central African Renewal (URCA) and former Prime Minister (1999-2001), who has been nominated again by his party for the December 2025 presidential election.
He has renounced his French citizenship to comply with the provisions of the electoral law.
Also on the list is Sergee Ghislain Djone, of CAPRIDA; Jean Michel Didibara (39 years old), from the UNIR party; Jean-Marie Mandjaba and Arsude Berand Reboas, both from the Central African Party for Democracy (PCD); Saint Cyr Tanza, representing the Rally for Hope and National Action (REAN); as well as two independent candidates, Marcelin Yakemende and Parafait Symachorien Nzanga.
In a second decision, the National Electoral Commission (ANE) rejected three applications for lack of required supporting documents. Freddy Guele-Gongassoua-Ada-Kiocka was rejected for not providing his parents’ birth certificates, a certified diploma, a criminal record extract, a medical certificate, proof of property ownership, and a payment deposit. Alain Brice Innocent Touaboy and Romeo Bienvenu Guerret-Sindo-Lene, an independent candidate, also had their applications rejected for similar deficiencies, including the lack of proof of property ownership and a payment deposit.
The list published by the ANE remains provisional and may be subject to appeals before its final validation by the Constitutional Court. The first round of the presidential election is scheduled for December 28, 2025.
