The national carrier, Air Burkina, has taken another step in its recovery with the acquisition of a new
Embraer 190 aircraft, which was delivered on October 30, at Ouagadougou International Airport.
The ceremony for the delivery of the new aircraft to Air Burkina took place in the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Mr. Émile Zerbo.
The new acquisition marks a major turning point for national air transport and, according to the Minister, who said it symbolises “the resilience of the Burkinabe people.”
Hailing what he called a “collective victory,” Mr. Zerbo emphasised that the arrival of the aircraft was made possible thanks to the mobilisation of all Burkinabè, under the leadership of the country’s leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
“This acquisition is the fruit of the efforts of the Burkinabè people. Air Burkina is back!” he declared to an enthusiastic staff.
The minister then encouraged the company’s staff to continue their mission with professionalism, discipline, and patriotism, reminding them that “Air Burkina, established in 1967, must continue to soar high for the country.”
With a capacity of 98 passengers, the new Embraer 190 offers enhanced performance in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. It is the second aircraft to join the Air Burkina fleet since September 2024, thus strengthening the national airline’s operational capabilities.
In conclusion, Mr. Zerbo appealed to all Burkinabe and friends of the country: “Air Burkina is back, and it must continue to proudly carry the colors of Burkina Faso in the African skies.”
