The 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games will feature 25 sports from October 31 to November 13 in Senegal.
Among the disciplines on the program, table tennis, badminton, show jumping, archery, and artistic gymnastics will feature events focused on speed, precision, and technical mastery.
According to information published by Olympics.com, nearly 2,700 young athletes will participate in this fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, held for the first time on the African continent.
Table tennis competition will take place from November 1 to 5 at the Dakar Exhibition Centre in Diamniadio.
Players will need to demonstrate quick reflexes during rallies, precise shots, and the ability to adapt to their opponents’ play.
Badminton will be played from November 3 to 5 at the Dakar Arena in Diamniadio. The sport relies heavily on footwork speed, shot accuracy, and the ability to quickly adjust shot trajectories.
From November 4 to 6, show jumping will bring together riders and horses at the Diamniadio Equestrian Centre. Competitors must navigate the obstacles on a course while minimising faults, paying particular attention to the horse’s trajectory, rhythm, and coordination with the rider.
Archery is scheduled for November 7-9 at Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. The sport relies on precision, concentration, and consistent form to hit the centre of the target.
Finally, artistic gymnastics will take place from November 7 to 11 at the Dakar Exhibition Centre.
The young gymnasts will be judged on their routines, which require strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
The competitions for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games will be held in Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. According to Olympics.com, this will be the first time a Youth Olympic Games has been held in Africa.
