The Gambia Football Federation has elected Mr. Kemo Ceesay as its new president, APA can report on Sunday.
Ceesay polled 41 votes while his closest challenger Colonel Musa Jammeh garnered 24 votes. Sadibou Kamaso, the third contender polled 12 votes during Saturday’s elective congress of the national football governing body.
The new GFF president had worked with the federation for more than 20 years, garnering experience as a football administrator and managing the affairs of the game in The Gambia.
Ceesay promised to give Gambian football a new lease of life following dismal few years when the national team, the Scorpions failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco after qualifying for the continental competition in the previous two editions in Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire.
He replaces Lamin Kaba Bajo who has been at the helm of the country’s football governing body since 2014.
