The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, has surpassed $100 billion in cumulative trade finance approvals since beginning operations in 2008, the multilateral institution announced from its Jeddah headquarters on Monday, October 26, 2026.
The financial threshold reflects nearly two decades of targeted capital deployment designed to bolster import and export flows for essential commodities, enhance regional market liquidity, and reinforce macroeconomic stability across member states facing international credit constraints.
According to institutional operational metrics, ITFC-backed trade facilities expanded food security access to an estimated 24 million households and supported electrical grid supply for 17.8 million homes during the 2025 fiscal cycle alone. Furthermore, more than one-third of total cumulative approvals were funneled directly into Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to alleviate trade financing deficits and integrate local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into global supply chains.
Reflecting on the benchmark, ITFC Chief Executive Officer Adeeb Yousuf Al Aama emphasized that reaching $100 billion underscores the organization’s role in maintaining essential trade logistics during major economic disruptions and market volatility. Looking forward, the corporation plans to expand operations, mobilize private and institutional capital, and deploy digital trade finance platforms in alignment with the IsDB Group’s 2026–2035 strategic framework and its 2026–2030 corporate development targets.
