Tunisia and Mauritania have agreed to strengthen their agricultural and veterinary cooperation, marking a step forward in regional rapprochement on agro-sanitary partnerships.
This agreement was formalized in Tunis, on the sidelines of the “One Health” conference, which gathered 14 countries from the MENa region to address common health issues.
The two nations have decided to boost agricultural trade and deepen collaboration in animal health, reflecting a growing trend toward regional agricultural partnerships in the Maghreb and West Africa.
During a bilateral meeting held Saturday in Tunis, Tunisian Minister of Agriculture Ezzedine Ben Cheikh and Mauritanian Minister of Livestock Development Mokhtar Ould Gaguih announced the establishment of virtual working sessions. These sessions will aim to define priority partnership areas and develop a joint operational program. The meeting, organized alongside the regional “One Health” conference for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, identified key avenues for collaboration, particularly in technology transfer, animal production, and the exchange of expertise.
The “One Health” conference, which commenced Saturday in the Tunisian capital, brings together representatives from 14 countries and several international organizations to better coordinate regional health policies.
