The Nigerian Forces involved in Operation Hadin Kai announced on Friday that they had thwarted several infiltration attempts attributed to ISWAP fighters in Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria, forcing the attackers to retreat.
Nigerian troops from the Joint Task Force Northeast, engaged in Operation Hadin Kai, announced they had repelled several infiltration attempts by fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State (northeast).
According to a statement signed on Friday by Captain Mohammed Goni, acting military information officer for Operation Hadin Kai, the attacks were recorded in the early hours of July 10, 2026, in several areas surrounding Maiduguri. ISWAP fighters reportedly attempted to infiltrate through the Muna garage, the village of Shuwari, and the Ajilari Cross road, aiming to reach the city of Maiduguri.
Thanks to early warning systems deployed by Nigerian forces, the attackers’ movements were quickly detected. Troops then engaged them from multiple directions, using firepower that reportedly halted the various infiltration attempts.
In separate operations, the military also repelled other reported infiltration attempts in Miringa and Dutsen Kura, in the Buratai area.
The statement specifies that during the pursuit of fleeing fighters in Miringa, a mine-resistant and ambush-resistant armoured vehicle (MRAP) detonated an improvised explosive device (IED), without causing any casualties among the soldiers.
The situation remained under control, according to the army. Faced with the response of the forces involved, the fighters reportedly abandoned their advance and retreated in disarray along several axes.
Troops are currently conducting search, demining and security operations to maintain operational control in the affected areas.
Operation Hadin Kai states that it is continuing its offensives against armed groups active in north-eastern Nigeria, particularly to reduce their mobility and protect civilian populations.
The Military authorities have also called on residents to remain vigilant and to continue providing security forces with any information that could contribute to counter-terrorism operations.
