Banjul and Kyiv are seeking to expand their partnership into new sectors, beyond their traditional diplomatic relations.
Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Sering Modou Njie, met Monday in New York with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, to explore the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation, his ministry said Tuesday.
The talks focused on several areas of mutual interest, including education, science and technology, agriculture, and capacity building, according to the ministry.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership between The Gambia and Ukraine, the ministry added.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of diplomatic activities in New York, where both officials are participating in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
