Botswana’s Ministry of Education and Child Protection has announced the temporary closure of all schools in the country from February 20 to February 24 due to heavy rains that have caused flooding and cut off several roads.
In an official statement dated February 19 and received by APA, Minister Nono Kgafela-Mokoka said the decision was made after torrential rains in recent days disrupted student travel, with some areas becoming inaccessible.
The ministry plans to reassess the situation Monday afternoon.
Parents and guardians are urged to ensure the safety of children and monitor their movements during this time.
