The countdown has begun for the 2024 CAF Awards, which will be held on Monday, December 16 at the Palais des Congres in Marrakech, starting at 7:00 p.m. (local time), the organisation said on its website on Tuesday.
Morocco is once again in the spotlight to host CAF’s flagship event. In line with a tradition of the Confederation of African Football which, since its creation, has entrusted the organisation of its competitions to various African countries, highlighting their logistical capacity and sports infrastructure.
Egypt and Ghana are among the most recurring hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), while countries such as Morocco and South Africa have hosted major editions.
The ceremony in Marrakech will highlight the major figures of African football, with distinctions for the best players, coaches and teams on the continent.
Expected awards include “Player of the Year”, “Coach of the /Year” and “Goalkeeper of the Year”.
The trophies will also honour the best clubs and national teams, and the best goal of the year as voted by the fans.
Iconic figures such as Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure and Asisat Oshoala are among the great names who have marked the history of the CAF Awards.
Marrakech, a city with a rich cultural heritage, will provide an exceptional setting for this celebration of African football.
