Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema presided over the solemn opening session of the Courts and Tribunals at the Libreville Courthouse on Tuesday, calling for an uncompromising adherence to judicial integrity, impartiality, and independence to mark the commencement of the 2026–2027 judicial year.
Speaking in his dual capacity as Head of State and Chairman of the Higher Council of the Judiciary, President Oligui Nguema emphasized that structural reforms under the Fifth Republic must extend beyond physical infrastructure to restore public trust and guarantee equal justice before the law regardless of social status or political influence.
The ceremony also served as the official installation venue for three senior magistrate appointments made during the recent Higher Council meeting in Port-Gentil: André Wora Alonda as First President of the Court of Cassation, Jean-Gaspard Mintsa Ondo as Commissioner-General for the Law at the Council of State, and Pamphile Moussavou Ibouanga as First President of the Court of Auditors. Reviewing the preceding 2025–2026 judicial year, state officials highlighted significant institutional progress, including the opening of the Akanda Court and the completion of the unified Libreville Courthouse complex, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to improving public access to the courts and enhancing operational standards across the judicial branch.
