A case of alleged worker abuse at the Gambian embassy in Moscow, Russia is under investigation by the foregn affairs ministry in Banjul.
In a statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad said it is investigating social media reports about the alleged injuries on Amie Krubally, a Gambian maid working at the embassy.
A video has emerged showing lacerations on Ms. Krubally’s back, the result of an apparet beating which Ambassador Ebrima Ceesay is accused of inflicting on her.
”The ministry wishes to underscore that it treats allegations of misconduct involving diplomatic personnel with the utmost seriousness” said the statement.
The ministry vowed to pursue ”due diligence and administrative procedures… to ensure that the matter is addressed fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the public service and diplomatic corps”.
