The Lagos State Government on Tuesday says it will be presenting climate investment opportunities valued at between 25 billion dollars and 50 billion dollars to global investors.
The statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Mrs Titilayo Oshodi, stated that the government will make the presentation at the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) in Antalya, Türkiye.
Oshodi explained that the Lagos Climate Investment Day and Cocktail Reception, scheduled for Nov. 13, will connect investors with over 300 potential projects across several sectors.
According to her, the event is expected to bring together investors, financial institutions, development partners and private-sector leaders to explore partnerships and financing opportunities for climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainable economic development.
Oshodi said that the Lagos State government was committed to turning climate action into an engine of economic transformation through investments in infrastructure, clean energy, transport and job creation.
“Lagos is committed to demonstrating that climate action can drive economic transformation.
“Our ambition is to turn climate priorities into investable opportunities that strengthen infrastructure, expand access to clean energy, improve transportation, attract capital, create jobs and improve lives,” the statement quoted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as saying.
She added that the government would engage global investors and strategic partners at COP31 to translate its project pipeline into tangible investments and lasting economic value for Lagos and Nigeria.
