The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), supported by their partners, carried out a series of targeted strikes against several militant groups in the north, south-east and central parts of the country last Wednesday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces said in a statement issued in Bamako on Friday.
The coordinated operations were conducted as part of Operation Dougoukoloko, which is tasked with monitoring, controlling and securing national territory, the Malian Military’s General Staff said on Friday.
According to the military command, the first strike targeted a strategic gathering point north of the village of Talhandak. Precise intelligence made it possible to locate and strike the position, which housed armed fighters and substantial stocks of military equipment and logistical supplies.
At the same time, in the Nangola area of the Dioïla region, nine motorcycles, each carrying two armed individuals, were tracked by surveillance assets before being precisely targeted. A similar operation took place 32 kilometres west of Djenné, where another group of armed men on motorcycles attempting to conceal themselves was neutralised. No movement was observed after the strike.
The General Staff said reconnaissance and assessment operations were continuing in the areas concerned to establish a consolidated report and identify any remaining threats. It reaffirmed its determination to continue securing the country in cooperation with local communities.
