Morocco is officially launching its Women in AI (WAI) chapter to strengthen female leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and embed inclusion at the core of the national digital strategy.
The Women in AI Morocco Summit 2025 will host the official chapter launch on Friday, December 5, at the Casablanca Technopark. This initiative marks the creation of a structured network dedicated to promoting women’s skills in AI and facilitating their integration into the technology sectors. The announced presence of Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, underscores the institutional importance placed on this project.
The chapter’s launch is strategically aligned with the “Morocco Digital 2030” roadmap, which aims to position the country as a regional technology hub. The organizers emphasize the necessity of developing specialized AI skills, strengthening applied research, and encouraging responsible innovation amidst increased competition among emerging economies. The event is held in partnership with key players, including Technopark, Orange Morocco, and DXC Technology.
The initiative outlines four core priorities: Structuring an inclusive national AI ecosystem. Promoting female leadership in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. Positioning Morocco as a regional player in AI adoption. Advancing an ethical and sustainable approach to AI development.
The organizers view the rise of artificial intelligence as a crucial lever for digital sovereignty, requiring accessible training and support programs for new audiences, particularly women.
Sofia Ghacham, founder and president of the chapter, stated that this launch marks a “turning point for the Moroccan digital ecosystem.” She emphasized the network’s commitment to “building ethical and inclusive AI driven by the talent of Moroccan women,” with the goal of strengthening institutional partnerships and building an international network to sustainably position Morocco on the global AI map.
The summit will bring together public officials, digital stakeholders, and experts from Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. Organizers stressed that the participation of representatives from the Women in AI chapters in Africa, the Middle East, and the UAE demonstrates Morocco’s ambition to serve as a bridge between the continent’s technology ecosystems and neighboring regions. The inaugural edition aims to establish an annual event dedicated to fostering inclusive AI growth in Morocco.
