Mozambican President Daniel Chapo on Tuesday began a four‑day official visit to Portugal, seeking to strengthen bilateral ties and promote investment opportunities as part of efforts to deepen cooperation with one of Mozambique’s closest international partners.
The trip, taking place from 14 to 17 July at the invitation of Portuguese President António José Seguro, marks Chapo’s third visit to the country since December.
According to the Mozambican Presidency, Chapo will hold meetings with Seguro and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro to advance political, economic and business cooperation and consolidate the strategic partnership between the two countries.
He will also serve as guest of honour at Wednesday’s opening of the EurAfrican Forum, where he is expected to highlight Mozambique’s investment potential and advocate for stronger dialogue between Africa, Europe and global partners on sustainable development and economic integration.
The Presidency said the visit offers an opportunity to showcase Mozambique’s reforms and attract international investors, building on long‑standing ties rooted in shared language, history and business links.
Chapo is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, Transport and Logistics Minister João Jorge Matlombe and senior government officials.
