A total turnover of 4.689 billion shares worth ₦240.824 billion in 261,198 deals was traded this week by investors on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange.
According to the weekly report of transactions released on Friday in Lagos, the figures were in contrast to a total of 3.249 billion shares valued at ₦237.986 billion that exchanged hands last week in 287,919 deals.
The report stated that the Financial Services Industry led the activity chart with 3.537 billion shares valued at ₦116.666 billion traded in 115,985 deals, while the ICT Industry followed with 279.827 million shares worth ₦15.773 billion in 29,520 deals.
The third place was the Conglomerates Industry, with a turnover of 154.165 million shares worth ₦6.621 billion in 4,540 deals.
Trading in the top three equities, namely Fidelity Bank Plc, Fortis Global Insurance Plc and Zenith Bank Plc (measured by volume), accounted for 2.020 billion shares worth ₦54.057 billion in 21,385 deals, contributing 43.08% and 22.45% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
A total of 2.660 million units valued at ₦747.735 million were traded this week in 6,048 deals compared with a total of 1.844 million units valued at ₦504.229 million, transacted last week in 5,684 deals.
In the Bonds section, a total of 180,459 units valued at ₦179.624 million were traded this week in 43 deals compared with a total of 108,943 units valued at ₦112.766 million transacted last week in 38 deals.
The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.92% to close the week at 252,113.41 and ₦163.655 trillion respectively.
Similarly, all other indices finished higher with the exception of NGX Insurance, NGX Lotus II, NGX Sovereign Bond indices which depreciated by 0.52%, 0.13% and 0.003% respectively.
