The Eswatini government Thursday announced the death of Princess Lindiwe, Minister of Home Affairs, following a brief illness while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.
In a statement by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, the government extended its condolences to the king, the Queen Mother, the royal family, the late Princess Lindiwe’s relatives and friends, and her colleagues.
Appointed Minister of Home Affairs in 2018, Princess Lindiwe served the government and the kingdom for eight years, according to the statement. The government described her as a leader who carried out her duties with “dedication” and a “strong sense of duty.”
The government also highlighted her religious commitment. Known as Umkhokheli, she held a spiritual leadership and pastoral role for many people within the church.
“The kingdom has lost a humble and dignified person, the Cabinet a valued and respected colleague, the Church a spiritual leader, and the Nation a devoted and faithful servant,” the prime minister said.
