The Operation HADIN KAI, undertaken by the Nigerian Army against terrorist groups in the North-East, has recorded a sharp increase in the number of surrendered commanders, fighters and terrorist affiliates, from more than 50 the previous week to more than 150 during the past week.
According to the press release from the military command, this progression reflects the cumulative effect of intelligence operations, the intensification of military pressure and actions aimed at encouraging the voluntary disengagement of members of terrorist groups.
It noted that this development also reflects the increased pressure on terrorist organisations, particularly on their freedom of movement, their logistical networks and their ability to maintain their members in their enclaves.
The command also reports the recovery of weapons and ammunition from certain elements who have defected, believing that these results illustrate the effectiveness of the combination between military operations, intelligence, strategic communication and civil-military initiatives.
The Nigerian army explained that strengthening its messages at members of the armed groups willing to abandon their activities, while informing them of the consequences linked to maintaining their terrorist affiliation.
The statement added that those who surrender are profiled, documented and supported in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws.
The military command praised the resilience and discipline of the troops of Operation HADIN KAI, urging them to maintain pressure on the capabilities of terrorist groups, protect civilian populations and contribute to the restoration of peace and security in the North-East of Nigeria.
