Angola and Macao have signed a mutual visa‑exemption agreement that will allow residents of both jurisdictions to enter the other territory without a visa.
Macao SAR is a special administrative region (SAR) of China known for its unique blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultures, global gaming industry, and high population density.
The deal grants Macao SAR passport holders visa‑free entry into Angola for stays of up to 30 days, with identical conditions extended to Angolan citizens.
The exact implementation date will be announced later, according to Macao’s Identification Services Bureau.
At the signing ceremony, Wong Sio Chak, Macao’s Secretary for Administration and Justice, said the agreement would “significantly facilitate the daily lives” of residents, particularly in tourism, academic exchanges and trade.
He added that the measure would deepen cultural integration and promote greater interaction between populations.
Eduardo Velasco Galiano, Angola’s Consul General in Macao, welcomed the move, noting that entrepreneurs had previously faced bureaucratic barriers.
He said the agreement “permanently clears the uncertainty that lingered over our commercial relations, opening doors to a future of greater prosperity and economic exchange.”
Angola becomes the fourth Portuguese‑speaking countryto benefit from Macao’s visa‑exemption regime, after Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde.
