President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal arrived in Abuja on Monday for an official visit focused on the bloc’s institutions and the swearing-in of new judges to the organisation’s Court of Justice.
The Senegalese head of state, who is also the current Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, was on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, welcomed by the President of the ECOWAS
Commission, General Birame Diop, as well as several officials from the institution and representatives of the Senegalese Embassy in Nigeria.
During his visit, Bassirou Diomaye Faye is scheduled to visit the ECOWAS Commission, the Community Parliament, and the Court of Justice, where he will attend the swearing-in ceremony for the new judges.
The visit aims, in particular, to reaffirm the commitment of the bloc’s leaders to strengthening ECOWAS institutions and consolidating regional integration.
Faye’s visit takes place against the backdrop of the West African organization’s ongoing efforts to foster peace, stability, cooperation, and regional development.
