President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at strengthening Ghana-United Kingdom economic relations, attracting investment and engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora.Ghanaian Politics Reports
According to the statement issued on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, President Mahama was welcomed at the airport by Lord Katz from the Royal Household, Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The statement stated that the visit features a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, underscoring the long-standing bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
It added that the visit will position Ghana as a premier investment destination while actively engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora.
President Mahama, will during the visit, attend a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London on Sunday evening and on Monday morning, he will open the Ghana-United Kingdom Investment Summit at Raffles.
The statement explained that the investment summit is central to the visit and it is designed to attract foreign direct investments and foster partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors.
According to the statement, the President will also demonstrate Ghana’s growing presence in global financial markets as a guest at the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the bell to mark the official start of trading.
President Mahama will deliver an address at Chatham House and a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall in London.
The statement noted that the visit underscores Ghana’s commitment to deepening international partnerships, promoting investment opportunities, and advancing economic transformation for sustainable growth.
“President Mahama will end his visit to London on June 3, 2026,” the statement added.
