Tunisian President Kais Saied stated on Monday that the country is currently navigating a “critical historical phase,” insisting that upcoming government actions will not disappoint the Tunisian people.
During a meeting at the Carthage Palace with Prime Minister Sara Zaafrani Zenzri, the Head of State emphasized the necessity of achieving greater coherence in government action and within various public services, reiterating that these services exist to serve the citizens.
According to an official statement, President Saied affirmed that recognizing the social role of the state is an irreversible choice. He reiterated his commitment to opening new prospects for the future for the “victims” of a past system he claims worked to impoverish the country and sow discord.
President Saied also reaffirmed his determination to recover looted funds belonging to the Tunisian people, issuing a warning to those who willingly collaborated with “colonialist circles” that they will be held accountable.
The Head of State stressed that he is closely monitoring the situation across the country’s regions, citing local citizen-led studies—such as those on the environmental situation in Gabès—as a source of national pride. Saied promised that measures to be enacted at the next Council of Ministers will directly meet the expectations of the Tunisian people.
