Dakar’s Criminal Investigation Brigade arrested a high-profile fugitive in the capital’s residential Almadies district on October 25, 2026, ending an eight-month international search.
The suspect had been wanted since February 2026 under an international arrest warrant stemming from a high-value real estate dispute involving more than 1.372 billion CFA francs, alongside criminal charges including escape, criminal conspiracy, fraud, forgery, use of forged public documents, and money laundering.
According to statements from the National Gendarmerie, the suspect evaded regional law enforcement by moving through Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and The Gambia before surreptitiously returning to Senegal. Beyond the primary land fraud case, investigators confirmed the suspect is also linked to a concurrent inquiry into an alleged 300 million CFA franc electronic money scheme targeting accounts managed by Wave and Orange Money. Following his apprehension in a rented apartment, judicial authorities seized electronic equipment and personal documentation from the premises, with forensic examinations and accomplice tracking continuing under the direction of the state prosecutor.
