Saly Sarr of Senegal won the gold medal in the triple jump at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
Ms. Sarr achieved a leap of 14.52 meters in the women’s triple jump event on Monday at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This result allowed her to finish in first place ahead of Uzbekistan’s Sharifa Davronova (13.91 m) and Azerbaijan’s Yekaterina Sariyeva (13.84 m).
This is the first gold medal won by Senegal at this edition of the Games. The competition began last Friday and continues until next Friday.
Twenty-three-year-old Saly Sarr finished sixth in the world triple jump final in September 2025.
She is the 2024 African champion in Douala and has achieved several continental podium finishes since 2019.
The Senegalese delegation includes 13 athletes competing in various disciplines, compared to 110 at the 2023 edition in Konya, Turkey.
In taekwondo, Bocar Diop was eliminated in the first round of the under-67 kg category. In swimming, Oumy Diop won three medals: a silver in the 50m backstroke and two bronze medals in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle.
