Senegalese journalist Ndeye Magatte Kebe has been appointed as the Head of Programs and Projects for the Pan-African Union of Journalists for South-South Cooperation (UPJ-SUD), the organization announced on Friday.
The appointment comes as the UPJ-SUD, which is based in Rabat, officially launched on September 1, 2025. The union’s executive board, led by Ivorian Adama Bakayoko, has recognized Kebe’s extensive experience and Senegal’s growing influence in the media landscape. Her presence on the board also highlights the important role of women in shaping the future of African journalism.
With more than fifteen years of experience in journalism and strategic communications, Kebe has a strong background in the field. She is the founder of the website Les Africaines (2018) and the media outlet HydroDiplomacy (2022). She has also been the head of communications for the GRAIN project at the Senegalese think tank IPAR since 2022.
The UPJ-SUD’s mission is to defend press freedom, promote South-South cooperation, and foster credible information for development. The organization plans to launch new training programs, awards for journalistic excellence, and pan-African forums in the near future.
