The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, (ECREEE) in coordination with the Gambian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, have announced the 10th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF, 2025), scheduled to take place on September 18 & 19, 2025, at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center, in the city of Banjul, The Gambia.
During the last few years, ESEF has established itself as the premier energy event in West Africa, attracting a wide range of stakeholders worldwide.
Building on the success of the previous editions, this year focuses on a very pertinent theme: “Accelerating Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions for Growth in the ECOWAS Region”.
According to the statement by ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), the forum will bring together relevant stakeholders, including government representatives, policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to discuss addressing the region’s energy challenges and harnessing its opportunities to boost the acceleration of clean energy infrastructure solutions.
It added that the main objectives of the forum include:
Advancing Sustainable Energy Goals – Supporting ECOWAS member states in achieving their sustainable energy targets and commitments.
Unlocking Investment Opportunities – Promoting viable investment prospects across West Africa’s renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
Strengthening Policy & Partnerships – Serving as a high-level networking platform to improve regulatory frameworks and attract investments.
Accelerating Clean Energy Deployment – Fostering regional cooperation to scale up smart mini grid solutions, off-grid solar systems, and renewable-integrated electricity markets.
Driving a Just Energy Transition – Exploring innovative pathways including energy efficiency, accelerating distributed generation, clean cooking, green hydrogen, e-mobility, energy-water-food nexus solutions, and gender-inclusive energy access.
