Tunisia has hosted the African Regional Forum on the Islamic Development Bank’s (IDB) Scholarship Programs.
Organised in collaboration with the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT), the meeting aims to enhance the effectiveness of these programs, according to the Tunisian Ministry of Economy and Planning.
Discussions will focus on aligning the training programs offered with the development priorities of African countries and the needs of the labour market. Participants will also identify priority areas in
education and training.
The forum was aiming to improve the tracking of scholarship students and graduates, as well as to facilitate their entry into the workforce.
Developing partnerships with universities and technical and vocational training institutions is also among the objectives.
The meeting is intended to strengthen coordination among the relevant institutions and promote the sharing of expertise within the framework of South-South cooperation.
Tunisia was chosen for its experience in higher education, vocational training, and technical cooperation.
The meeting was opened by Lotfi Fradi, chief of staff to the Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning.
It brings together representatives from more than 17 African countries, educational and training institutions, as well as beneficiaries and alumni of scholarship programs.
