Cameroon international defender Falonne Meffometou has opened up about her experience of balancing a professional football career with motherhood, as part of March’s focus on women’s stories.
The Indomitable Lioness described a daily routine shaped by the demands of elite sport alongside her responsibilities as a mother, highlighting the balance she has gradually built over the course of her career.
“Everything comes down to organization,” she told CAF Online, explaining that she carefully plans her days in advance to manage both training and family life.
A mother since 2021, Meffometou said the experience has profoundly transformed her life. “It has changed everything, both in my personal life and in my career,” she noted, adding that her child has become a powerful source of motivation.
Now 35, the player also emphasised the crucial role of her support network throughout her journey before, during and after pregnancy. “Support is essential,” she stressed.
Reflecting on her return to competition, Meffometou underlined her determination: “I was so motivated that nothing could stop me.”
She also called for stronger support systems for player-mothers, highlighting key values such as discipline, patience and resilience. “Keep working and never give up,” she concluded.
