Seamfix, a provider of digital identity and biometric solutions for institutions in Africa and around the world, has announced the launch of ePass, a digital passport renewal application developed in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Benin.
The ePass application allows Beninese citizens residing abroad to apply for and renew their international passports entirely online, without having to visit embassies or consulates. This service, launched globally in October, is now available in over 80 countries.
Leveraging Seamfix’s GovSmart platform, dedicated to digital identity and government service delivery, ePass digitizes the entire passport renewal process. Through a secure mobile application, eligible citizens can submit required documents, register their biometric data using personal devices with integrated presence verification, make online payments, and track their application’s progress in real time.
Once approved, passports are produced by the relevant government authority and delivered to applicants by courier or made available for collection at the embassy.
According to the report distributed by the APO Group for Seamfix, the solution was implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration (DEI Benin) and is now fully operational, with increasing adoption within diaspora communities.
“At Seamfix, our goal is simple: to enable everyone to securely prove their identity in order to access the opportunities they are entitled to,” said Chimezie Emewulu, CEO of the Seamfix Group.
“With ePass, distance is no longer a barrier to reliable identification or access to essential public services. Our UK-based operations, with direct access to global banking and payment infrastructures, allow us to support governments and citizens in Africa and around the world. By eliminating the need for long journeys, time off work or study, and extended visits to embassies for biometric data capture, ePass expands equal access to public services and strengthens every individual’s right to their identity.”
