The 11th annual Africa Debate, London’s premier Africa-focused investment forum, will convene global policymakers, industry leaders, and investors at the prestigious Guildhall on July 2, 2025, to discuss “Harnessing Natural Capital for Growth.”
At a critical juncture for Africa’s economic transformation, the 2025 debate will emphasize the need to move beyond raw material extraction and towards value chain development and industrial growth. With 60% of the world’s richest solar resources and abundant critical minerals, Africa is poised to lead the global energy transition. However, realizing this potential requires bold policy reforms, strategic investments, and robust partnerships.
“Africa is no longer defined by its raw materials – it is emerging as a global force in advanced industries, sustainable energy, and digital innovation,” stated Chantelé Carrington, CEO at Invest Africa. “The challenge now is not just unlocking potential, but turning ambition into action. This year’s debate will bring together visionary leaders and investors to shape the strategies that will drive Africa’s next phase of economic transformation.”
The Africa Debate 2025 will focus on four key themes: Exploring how Africa can move up the value chain in advanced manufacturing and sustainable industrialization through strategic policies, investments, and trade agreements. Examining innovative financing models, including blended finance and risk-mitigation tools, to bridge Africa’s financing gap and unlock its vast natural resources.
Investigating the potential of blockchain and digital solutions to enhance transparency and governance in extractives, sustainable agriculture, and carbon markets, addressing issues like illicit financial flows. Discussing bankable energy solutions, including renewables, gas, and nuclear, and the financing models needed to ensure reliable, sustainable, and scalable energy for Africa’s industrial growth.
The Africa Debate 2025 will provide a crucial platform for deal-making, strategic discussions, and networking, shaping the future of trade and investment across the continent. Attendees will gain exclusive insights from high-level industry leaders, investors, and policymakers driving Africa’s economic transformation.
