During this month of Ramadan and Lent, Senegal’s national carrier announces a program covering medical evacuations and repatriation of remains across its entire network.
Air Senegal officially launched on Sunday, a solidarity initiative called “Wings of Hope,” designed to provide tangible support to Senegalese nationals both at home and in the diaspora facing emergency situations or acute hardship, according to a statement from the airline to APA.
Unveiled during Ramadan and Lent, the program includes the provision of airline tickets for medical evacuations or urgent travel home, as well as coverage for the repatriation of remains, allowing families to grieve and pay their respects to their loved ones with dignity.
“We are counting on everyone’s involvement to bring to our teams’ attention any situations requiring support,” said Tidiane Ndiaye, Chief Executive Officer of Air Senegal, calling on all to help identify potential beneficiaries. “This initiative must mobilize everyone in order to bring hope to those who need it,” he added.
The airline noted, however, that the program is subject to conditions: beneficiaries will be required to provide supporting documentation according to the nature of their request, the number of cases covered will be limited, and only destinations currently served by Air Senegal are eligible. The carrier operates a network of 13 destinations spanning West Africa, North Africa and Europe, with routes to Bamako, Conakry, Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Casablanca, Paris, Brussels and several other capitals.
Through “Wings of Hope,” Air Senegal aims to reaffirm the values of solidarity and mutual support — at the heart of what it calls the “Teranga Spirit” — that it says underpin its commitment to the Senegalese community.
Founded in 2016 and operational since 2018, Air Senegal aspires to become the leading airline in West Africa, operating from its main hub at Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International Airport.
