Algeria’s national team coach, Vladimir Petković, Sunday released a list of 26 players selected
for the 2026 World Cup.
The Fennecs, returning to the finals after a 12-year absence feature in Group J alongside Argentina, Jordan, and Austria.
The 2026 World Cup takes place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Bosnian coach relied on the core group of players who participated in the qualifiers and notably includes goalkeeper Luca Zidane (Granada, Spain), defenders Rayan Ait-Nouri (Manchester City, England), Ramy Bensebaini (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), and Aissa Mandi (LOSC Lille, France).
The midfielders called up includes Houssem Aouar (Al-Ittihad, Saudi Arabia), Nabil Bentaleb (LOSC Lille, France), Hicham Boudaoui (OGC Nice, France), Farès Chaïbi (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany), and Ibrahim Maza (Bayern Leverkusen, Germany).
The attacking line up will be led by captain Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli FC, Saudi Arabia), alongside Mohamed Amoura (VfL Wolfsburg, Germany), Amine Gouiri (Olympique de Marseille, France), Farès Ghedjemis (Frosinone, Italy), Anis Hadj Moussa (Feyenoord Rotterdam, Netherlands), Nadhir Benbouali (Győr, Hungary), and Adil Boulbina (USM Alger).
Before the tournament, Algeria will continue its preparations with a friendly against the Netherlands on June 3 in Rotterdam.
The Fennecs opening match at the World Cup is on June 16 when they take on defending champions Argentina at Kansas City Stadium.
They will then face Jordan on June 22 in the San Francisco Bay Area before concluding the group stage against Austria on June 27 in Kansas City.
Algeria thus returns to the world stage for the first time since the 2014 edition in Brazil, where they reached the Round of 16.
