Eighteen-year-old Senegalese international midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye has committed his long-term future to FC Bayern Munich, signing his first professional contract through June 30, 2031.
The German champions announced the deal on Monday, August 10, 2026, securing the promising midfielder following an impressive initial loan spell in Bavaria. Ndiaye originally arrived at Bayern on loan in January 2026 from the Gambian academy Gambinos Stars Africa, making four official first-team appearances during the second half of the 2025–2026 season.
Gambinos Stars Africa operates in collaboration with Red & Gold Football, a joint talent development initiative between Bayern Munich and Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC (LAFC). Jochen Sauer, Director of Youth Development at Bayern Munich and Managing Director of Red & Gold Football, highlighted that the club had been closely monitoring Ndiaye’s progress for several years prior to bringing him to Europe. Following a trial period with Switzerland’s Grasshopper Club Zurich in 2025, Ndiaye made his way to Munich, where his rapid adaptation and potential convinced executive management to solidify his stay.
Bayern Munich Sporting Director Christoph Freund commended Ndiaye’s development over the past two years, praising his on-field dynamism, speed with the ball, and leadership qualities. Freund also commended the teenager’s quick integration off the pitch, noting that Ndiaye already speaks functional German. Ndiaye’s strong club trajectory also propelled his international career, earning him a call-up by Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where he made his tournament debut as a substitute during extra time in the Lions of Teranga’s round-of-32 match against Belgium.
Reflecting on the signing, Ndiaye described the moment as a significant milestone for his family and expressed his ambition to learn alongside Bayern’s elite squad. He also noted his desire to serve as a role model for aspiring young footballers across West Africa, demonstrating that players from regional academies can rise to compete at the top tier of world football.
