The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday defeated the Cheetahs of the Benin Republic 4-0 in the final match of the 2026 World Cup qualification at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state in southern Nigeria.
The Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen opened scoring for his team in the 3rd minute of the first half of the game and substitute Frank Onyeka scored the 4th goal in the dying minutes of the game.
With this victory, Nigeria finished second with 17 points behind South Africa which top the group with 18 points, while Benin Republic finished third with 17 points as Nigeria, but Nigeria has higher goal difference.
The Bafana Bafana of South Africa, which picked the ticket for the World Cup tournament in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico in 2026 from Group C defeated Rwanda 3-0 to finish with 18 points.
Lesotho finished fourth in Group C with 12 points while Rwanda finished fifth with 11 points and Zimbabwe was sixth with 5 points.
