Burkina Faso is scheduled to deliver its national address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 28 during the General Debate of the 81st session in New York.
Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré is leading the Burkinabè delegation under the high-level session’s overarching theme, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations for All,” seeking to advocate for a more equitable multilateral framework that reflects the sovereign interests of developing nations.
Ahead of the address, the delegation is engaging in targeted multilateral forums, including sessions for Landlocked Developing Countries, Least Developed Countries, the Group of 77 and China, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Foreign Minister Traoré stated that the delegation’s primary objective is to present accurate reporting on national developments, counter external misperceptions regarding Burkina Faso and the Confederation of Sahel States, and conduct scheduled bilateral discussions with partner international delegations.
