The cost of the 2027 pilgrimage to Mecca has been set at 3,630,000 CFA francs, including meals, announced Emile Zerbo, Minister of State and Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the ministry, this amount covers pilgrimage and meal expenses. The purchase of a sheep, however, remains optional and is the sole responsibility of the individual
pilgrim.
The quota allocated to Burkina Faso by the Saudi authorities remains unchanged at 8,143 spots – the same number during the 2026 pilgrimage.
The National Organizing Committee for the Pilgrimage to Mecca (CNOPM), which began preparations on September 29 in Ouagadougou, has planned several measures to improve the organisation of the 2027 edition.
Among the announced innovations is enhanced training for those involved in organising the pilgrimage. The “eHadj” digital platform, which was tested during the previous edition, will also be used again to ensure greater fairness in the registration process.
Air transport for the pilgrims will be provided by the national carrier, Air Burkina, in accordance with current regulations.
Through these measures, the committee aims to consolidate the reforms initiated in 2026 and improve the conditions for Burkinabe pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
