Expo 2025 Osaka opened this Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the Japanese city, kicking off six months of
encounters, innovations, and intercultural dialogue between the nations of the world.
The opening ceremony of Expo 2025 Osaka took place in a vibrant atmosphere, blending Japanese tradition, technological modernity, and universal messages of hope for the future. The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, the Crown Prince and Princess, as well as the Japanese Prime Minister.
Among the international delegations present, Côte d’Ivoire took part in this exceptional ceremony, which highlighted the central theme of the Expo: “Designing the society of the future, imagining our lives tomorrow.”
This theme is of particular importance for Côte d’Ivoire, which is engaged in a dynamic structural transformation of its economy. It reflects the strengthening of its position in global trade.
This inaugural event marks the beginning of an exhibition bringing together more than 200 countries and international organisations over a six-month period to explore the major challenges of our time: innovation, sustainability, inclusion, and resilience.
The Ivorian delegation, led by Mr. Kaladji Fatiga, the Commissioner General of the Ivorian section of the exhibition and Director General of the Côte d’Ivoire Export Agency, took part in this global event.
“It was a unique ceremony, driven by a strong vision: to imagine the life of tomorrow. We saw it as a tremendous opportunity to make Côte d’Ivoire’s voice heard, to showcase its talents and expertise, and to draw attention to our vast economic, industrial, agricultural, cultural, and tourism potential,” said Mr. Kaladji Fatiga.
As part of its participation, Côte d’Ivoire has chosen a theme that perfectly aligns with the spirit of the expo: “Connecting the Intelligence of the Earth to Industrial Creativity.”
This theme expresses the country’s desire to leverage its natural, human, and cultural resources to build a diversified, competitive, and innovation-driven economy.
During this expo, Côte d’Ivoire will showcase, through its pavilion, its culture, its ambition to become a regional economic hub, and the processing of its agricultural products, particularly cocoa, as well
as its potential in the industrial, digital, and energy sectors.
“The goal is to position Côte d’Ivoire among the ranks of innovative nations. This expo is a showcase for building strategic partnerships, developing new synergies, and attracting significant investments,” said the Commissioner General of the Ivorian delegation.
Côte d’Ivoire’s participation will be long-term, with a rich program of economic, cultural, sporting, and tourism activities throughout the six months of this exhibition, which is being held in Osaka, a
legendary Japanese city.
The highlight of this Ivorian presence will be Côte d’Ivoire Week, scheduled for June 9-15, 2025, culminating in National Day on June 13, which will be an opportunity to celebrate the country in all its diversity and dynamism.
“We are launching a strong call for mobilization, both from the public and private sectors, as well as from our diaspora, our young people, our women entrepreneurs, and project leaders. This exhibition is ours. It is an opportunity to present the many facets of our country to the world and to make it a destination for business, culture, and innovation,” Mr. Fatiga said.
